Spring provides us an opportunity to reflect and gives hope for change and growth. The concept I want to explore today is "cultivate." What does it mean to cultivate? Some definitions include: to create, to grow, to prepare, to foster the growth of, to improve by labor, care or study; to encourage, or to develop.
Living in the Midwest, seasons here are guided by natures growth cycle which is evident in farming practices. As the frost fades, farmers prepare the soil in the fields, ensure their equipment is in good working order, develop their plan and sow the seeds where they need to grow. Farmers spend considerable time and effort to intentionally cultivate their crops. This can also be true for the gardener. This year I embarked on an experiment with small-scale container gardening. Choosing what to plant and determining what would thrive in containers was a challenge because I wanted to be intentional with what my family would actually eat without taking on more than I could manage throughout the summer.
How often do we apply this concept of to cultivate to our daily lives? Imagine if we took time to reflect, plan, and prepare for what we wish to create, grow, or nurture in our lives. How might that change how you feel in this season of life?
I encourage you today to pause, reflect and consider what you want your intention to be for today. And as you have moments in your daily life, embrace the opportunity to reflect more broadly on what you want to cultivate in your life and what adjustments you could make in your daily or weekly routine. For some, it could be going on a walk, drinking a glass of water in the morning or setting a reminder for when you want to go to bed. Even minor adjustments can foster lasting changes, enabling you to lead a more grace-filled and intentional life.
Until next time.
Amanda
